Dr. Jonathan Massey is an interventional cardiologist who believes the best treatment for a heart attack is preventing it from happening in the first place. Born and raised in Orlando, Dr. Massey is an interventional cardiologist with advanced training in contemporary coronary intervention and the treatment of complex coronary and peripheral vascular disease.

Dr. Massey joined Cardiovascular Associates of Central Florida in 2024 after completing advanced fellowship training in Interventional Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he served as Chief Interventional Fellow.

While Dr. Massey is extensively trained to treat patients during cardiovascular emergencies, he believes some of the most important work in cardiology happens before an emergency occurs. His approach emphasizes identifying and addressing cardiovascular risk factors early, with the goal of helping patients prevent heart attacks, strokes, and other serious cardiovascular events. When an intervention is necessary, he combines advanced procedural expertise with careful consideration of the treatment that is best suited to each individual patient.

His clinical interests include preventive and sports cardiology, cholesterol disorders, acute coronary syndrome, complex coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, advanced mechanical circulatory support, cardiogenic shock, and the treatment of pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis.

Patients appreciate Dr. Massey for his friendly demeanor, enthusiasm, and ability to establish an easy rapport. He believes excellent cardiovascular care begins with listening and clear communication. He takes the time to help patients understand their diagnosis, testing, and treatment options, and encourages them to ask questions and take an active role in their heart health. His goal is for every patient to leave feeling informed, comfortable, and confident in their care.

A native of Orlando, Dr. Massey is especially proud to return home and care for patients in the community where he was raised. His deep connection to Central Florida gives him a unique appreciation for the people and families he serves. Dr. Massey began his education at Emory University and completed post-baccalaureate studies at the University of South Florida before earning his medical degree from the American University of Integrative Sciences. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Louisiana State University, where

he served as Chief Resident, followed by his General Cardiology fellowship at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He then pursued advanced training in Interventional Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine, developing expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of complex coronary and peripheral vascular disease.

He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Nuclear Cardiology and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is also an active member of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, American Society of Echocardiography, and National Lipid Association.

Dedicated to medical education, Dr. Massey serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine and mentors Internal Medicine residents at the University of Central Florida.

In addition to caring for patients with coronary artery disease, Dr. Massey evaluates and treats a broad range of cardiovascular conditions, including hypertension, cholesterol disorders, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, chest discomfort, shortness of breath, and other concerns affecting cardiovascular health.
